6th Grade Pool Party Redo Splashes into Vermilion City Pool

6th Grade Redo Pool Party at Vermilion City Pool.

The Vermilion City Pool came alive this Saturday, August 17, as 45 soon-to-be 7th graders gathered for the long-awaited 6th Grade Pool Party Redo. Originally planned for late May, the party was canceled due to a scheduling mishap, leaving the kids without their traditional end-of-year celebration. But all was not lost. Parent Kitty Schwanitz sprang into action, determined to ensure the class didn’t miss out on this special event.

Thanks to a generous donation from Main Street Threads, the party was back on the calendar. Another contribution from Jim Oswalt ensured there was plenty of pizza for everyone, courtesy of Domino’s Pizza. Kitty Schwanitz and her family added their own touch with homemade brownies, individually packaged and ready for the kids to enjoy.

The fun didn’t stop there. Hawaii Ice made an appearance, bringing along the owner’s parrot, Ricky, much to the delight of the children. The shaved ice, offered in a dizzying array of flavor combinations, provided a cool and colorful treat as the evening progressed.

Though storms loomed on the horizon, the weather held, allowing the kids to splash and play under clear skies. By the end of the night, there was enough pizza and brownies left over for families to take home, adding a sweet note to an already successful event.

This warm, fun-filled evening was a reminder that sometimes things don’t go as planned, but with a little creativity and community support, you can always turn things around. As they say, when life gives you lemons, add some sugar and water, and make lemonade—or in this case, plenty of pizza, brownies, and good memories.
