Festival joins Market in the Park
VERMILION — Victory Park will become a colorful outdoor gallery when Main Street Vermilion hosts its annual Chalk It Up festival Saturday, Aug. 1.
The free event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park, located near Ohio and Main streets.
Chalk It Up features artwork created by local artists using chalk and prepared boards. More than 40 artists typically participate in the festival, which marked its 10th year in 2025.
Main Street Vermilion began distributing boards and chalk to participating artists July 6. Completed artwork must be returned to the organization’s office at 685 Main St. by Thursday, July 30, ahead of the festival.
Visitors will be able to view the completed pieces displayed throughout the event and participate in opportunities to create chalk art of their own.
Chalk It Up will take place alongside Main Street Vermilion’s weekly Market in the Park, which features local vendors, artists, baked goods, produce and other products. The Vermilion Lions Club Corn Roast also is scheduled that day.
Market in the Park is held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays throughout July and August at Victory Park. Free parking is available near the park, which is within walking distance of downtown businesses, restaurants and Main Street Beach.
Ohio Magazine recently included Chalk It Up among six Lake Erie festivals to attend during summer 2026.
Additional information is available through Main Street Vermilion’s website.
