
Vermilion City Council President Steve Herron has announced his resignation, effective April 30, 2025, citing increased job responsibilities that will prevent him from consistently attending council meetings. President Herron’s term ends at the end of 2025.
With his departure, Vermilion City Council is now seeking applicants to fill the vacancy. If you have a passion for public service and leadership, this could be your opportunity to step up and serve the community.

City Council is accepting letters of interest from residents who wish to be considered for the position. Letters should include:

✔ Your reasons for wanting to serve as Council President

Selection Process
🔹 April 14, 2025 – City Council will conduct interviews in executive session.
🔹 Following the interviews, Council will return to public session, where members can nominate and vote on a new president.
