Inflation hurts all of us, so I decided to take action.
Yesterday, I shopped for just 12 regular items at Drug Mart. Then, I priced compared at Giant Eagle.
The result? I saved $8.77 by shopping at Drug Mart. And with Drug Mart’s 15% discount for seniors, I
saved $18.82!
The items I bought were Bounty, Charmin, Dawn, bananas, potatoes, tuna, milk, eggs, apple juice, OJ, coffee and Cheerios. Regular stuff. You can see the items and the prices in the pic.
This isn’t an ad for Drug Mart. It’s a service for you, and I’m willing to continue doing it through 2025.
My plan is to price compare at Drug Mart and Giant Eagle every 2 months. In between, I’ll price compare produce and meat at Meijer and Giant Eagle (because Drug Mart has no meat and limited produce). Then I’ll publish the results here.
We all want to save dollars, so I’ll do my part to help. And since I like to donate to the Free Fridge at the Ritter Public Library, I encourage you to do the same (with some of your savings!). There’s also Grace’s Kitchen and the food pantry at the Salvation Army – probably more. –Will Kohler
BTW, I also compared gas prices in town. All are the same, except Speedway is 5 cents cheaper.
William,
Great idea, comparing prices. But since you’re venturing out to Meijer’s to cost compare, I think you should include Wal-Mart for grocery items as well, as my understanding is they’re cheaper than Giant Eagle and Drug Mart, and my hunch is that many Vermilionites shop there already.
All the Best,
Michael
This is a wonderful comparison. I will be doing more shopping at Drug Mart. And you don’t have to bag your own food, or get cocky responses from staff. They are all nice at Drug Mart.
Does Drug Mart have a discount day for Seniors?
Thank you
