Big Changes for Lorain County WIC – Discover Their New Amherst Location!

Lorain County Public Health announced that beginning October 1, 2024, the Lorain County Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program will move to a new location at 2001 Cooper Foster Park Road in Amherst. This change aims to enhance accessibility for families by providing a more central and accessible site for services. WIC offers critical support to low-income women, infants, and children up to age five, including healthy food benefits, nutritional education, breastfeeding support, and healthcare referrals.

The Amherst location is designed to better serve clients with expanded space and more convenient access to the growing communities in Lorain County. By relocating to a more central site, WIC hopes to ensure that families can easily receive the vital services they need. The new clinic site is located conveniently near three grocery stores that accept WIC vouchers, making it easier for families to redeem their benefits for healthy food.

Lorain County Public Health officials believe that the new location will improve operational efficiency and provide a welcoming environment for its participants. Additionally, the Amherst location offers more parking and accessibility features, ensuring that families with young children can navigate the facility with ease.

The transition comes as part of Lorain County’s broader effort to enhance public health services across the region. Families currently served at other locations will be notified of the changes and provided with updated information to ease the transition.
