Vermilion Local School District has officially voted to leave the Sandusky Bay Conference (SBC) and join a newly formed 10-team league starting in the 2026-2027 school year. The decision, finalized on March 10 at the VLSD Board of Education meeting, aligns with what Athletic Director Andy Stillman previously predicted: a move that secures Vermilion’s competitive future while maintaining all current sports programs.
The new conference will include Bellevue, Clyde, Columbian, Edison, Huron, Norwalk, Perkins, Port Clinton, Sandusky, and Vermilion. Stillman emphasized that this transition ensures Vermilion won’t have to cut any sports, a concern had they joined the LC8 Conference instead. The shift also keeps the Sailors aligned with natural rivals, reducing travel burdens and preserving historic matchups.

By joining this new league, Vermilion ensures a stable, competitive environment for its athletes while avoiding the challenges posed by the alternative conferences. This decision, now official, sets the stage for a fresh chapter in Sailors athletics.
