Lorain — Lorain County officials are investigating a network security incident that has disrupted several government systems and forced the temporary closure of multiple county departments.
In a public announcement shared by the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, the Commissioners confirmed that the county is working with third-party cybersecurity experts to assess and contain the breach. While the exact nature of the incident has not been disclosed, officials say the affected systems were taken offline out of an abundance of caution.

Several key services remain fully operational, including 911 dispatch, the Sheriff’s Office, the Auditor, the Coroner, Emergency Management, and Lorain County Job and Family Services. However, both the Lorain County Court of Common Pleas (General and Domestic Relations/Juvenile Divisions) and the Adult Probation Department have been closed until further notice.
The Lorain County Auditor’s Office appears to have been a primary target in the attack, though there has been no public confirmation of a data breach or ransom demand.
Officials noted that other county agency hours and availability may vary during the disruption. Residents are encouraged to contact departments directly or monitor updates through official channels.

“We apologize for the concern and inconvenience this matter causes,” the statement read. “We will provide updates to the community as appropriate.”
