Drugs, Warrants, and Wildlife: Vermilion Police Blotter April 29–May 4

This week’s blotter comes directly from the desk of Vermilion Police Chief Chris Hartung, who shared highlights of calls and arrests handled between April 29 and May 4, 2025. We thank Chief Hartung and the department for their continued efforts to keep residents informed and safe.

April 29

  • 0931 – SR2: Caller reported hitting a wheelbarrow left in the roadway.

April 30

  • 0238 – 200 block of Overlook: Suspect attempted to enter a parked car. No entry was gained and the suspect was not located.
  • 0817 – 1100 block of Sanford St: Property reported missing was later found and returned.
  • 1333 – 1000 block of Vermilion Rd: Fraud complaint filed.
  • 2331 – 8100 block of West Erie Rd: Business alarm investigated. The premises were secure.

May 1

  • 1033 – 600 block of Woodside Rd: A sick or injured raccoon was found and safely removed.
  • 1752 – Liberty Ave: Driver stopped for a moving violation was arrested after being found with 40 grams of meth, a firearm, and various drug paraphernalia. Charges include trafficking, aggravated possession, weapons under disability, and more. The suspect was taken to Lorain County Jail.

May 2

  • 1507 – SR2: Vehicle crash reported.
  • 1844 – Liberty Ave: Another motor vehicle accident logged.

May 3

  • 0208 – 3200 block of Brownhelm Station Rd: Telecommunications harassment reported.
  • 0908 – Liberty Ave: Vehicle crash reported.
  • 1731 – West River Rd: A driver with a warrant was arrested during a traffic stop.

May 4

  • 0054 – Ferndale: A driver pulled over for a moving violation was found to be under suspension and taken into custody.
