Vermilion’s challenges are similar to Lorain’s in that taxpaying citizens are feeling short changed on the services they rigthly expect for the taxes and fees they pay, with no concrete answers to solving the problems by elected officials. People are feeling both disenfranchised, financially distressed. It is time to recognize that new leadership with both a vision and a fiscal solution is needed. Being a better steward of the peoples money requires an experienced business approach based on accountability and budget driven operations. It requires a strong negotiating background and approach to putting Vermilion 1st, ahead of developers, ahead of consultants, ahead of regulatory agencies in all dealings. Driving new organic revenue requires an entrepreneurial approach that lessens the burden on taxes and utility fees strangling all of us, but especially our seniors and those on fixed incomes.
