HENRIETTA TOWNSHIP — A tragic three-vehicle crash in Lorain County on Sunday afternoon has left one woman dead and three others hospitalized with serious injuries.
According to the Elyria Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 2:25 p.m. on June 22 at the intersection of State Route 113 and Gore Orphanage Road in Henrietta Township.
Troopers say 28-year-old Moriah Smith of Roselle, Illinois, was driving a 2016 Ford Fusion north on Gore Orphanage Road when she attempted to turn left onto State Route 113. As she entered the intersection, her vehicle was struck by an eastbound 2022 Freightliner semi driven by Aaron Fischer, 30, of Amherst. The impact caused the Freightliner to collide head-on with a westbound 2019 Cadillac XT5, driven by 78-year-old George Roberts of Grafton.
The semi continued off the left side of the road, striking a tree before coming to rest in a ditch.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. Fischer, Roberts, and Roberts’ passenger, 67-year-old Debra Fallon of Olmsted Township, were all transported to University Hospital in Elyria with serious injuries.
Responding agencies included the Florence Township Fire Department, Central Lorain County EMS, the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, and multiple towing companies. The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
