- Community Events: From the Annual Book Sale and Chocolate Fest to free concerts, a Patio Party, a Wreath Auction, and a Beach Glass Presentation, the Friends hosted a variety of events to raise funds and foster community spirit.
- Program Support: They provided funding and resources for the Summer Reading Program for children and adults, established the Vermilion Poetry Society, and maintained three Little Free Libraries.
- Educational Contributions: The Friends donated books to Vermilion Public School’s Literacy Program and supported key events such as Chalk It Up and the Ice Affair.
- Financial Impact: Over the past two years, the Friends donated approximately $27,000 in goods and services to the library, with a $10,000 pledge for 2025.
Exciting Events in 2025
The Friends are kicking off 2025 with a packed calendar of exciting events.
- Chocolate Fest – February 1: This annual favorite coincides with the Ice-A-Fair in downtown Vermilion. Homemade chocolates will be available at Ritter Public Library from 9:30 a.m. to noon (or until sold out), with a cozy Hospitality Lounge offering coffee, tea, and water. They are still looking for bakers! - Celtic Performance – March 15: Harpist Virginia Dickson and her husband, Duane, will deliver a captivating Celtic performance in authentic costumes at 2:00 p.m. Free refreshments will be provided.
