Understanding child support laws can be overwhelming, but help is on the way for Lorain County residents. On Friday, February 28, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, Goodwill Industries of Lorain County will host a “Child Support: Know Your Rights” presentation at the Goodwill Opportunity Center, 4743 Liberty Ave., Vermilion, OH.

The event will feature Haley Martinelli, a Senior Attorney in the Family Law Practice Group at Legal Aid, who will provide crucial insights into child support obligations, modifications, enforcement, and the rights of both parents. Attendees will have the chance to ask questions and gain a better understanding of how child support laws impact them.

Why This Presentation Matters

Legal issues surrounding child support can be complex and stressful, particularly for parents navigating financial challenges or custody disputes. Legal Aid plays a crucial role in ensuring that low-income individuals have access to legal representation and understand their rights. Without proper guidance, parents may face wage garnishments, license suspensions, or even legal penalties for unpaid support. Events like this empower families with knowledge so they can advocate for themselves and make informed decisions.

Who Should Attend?

  • Parents paying or receiving child support
  • Those considering modifications to existing agreements
  • Anyone looking for general information about Ohio’s child support system

This free event is an opportunity for residents to get answers to their questions and better understand the legal framework around child support. No registration is required—just show up and learn.
