At approximately 6:40 p.m. today, a utility pole near the Vermilion-on-the-Lake (VOL) Clubhouse failed, causing electrical wires to swing free and knocking out power to most of VOL, including Aunt Ruth’s Little Store.
Vermilion police and fire crews responded swiftly. Sergeant Dale Reising of the Vermilion Police Department confirmed that no injuries were reported, though a Mustang sustained damage.
Initial observations suggest the top of the pole may have rotted, leading to the failure. Utility crews are expected to replace the pole, and power could remain out for several hours.

Update: Power was restored after midnight. Watch the crew work and they did a great job and it was fun to watch. Next time you flip a light switch be sure to thank your utility workers.
