Athletes of the Week

The Vermilion Sailors are proud to announce their Athletes of the Week for outstanding performances during the opening weeks of the winter sports season. Athletic Director Andy Stillman selected Alexa Lyczkowski and Zane Lassen for their contributions and accomplishments in their respective sports.

Alexa Lyczkowski, a senior swimmer, kicked off the 2024-25 season in impressive fashion. At the Danbury Meet on December 5th, Alexa secured a 1st place finish in the 500 Freestyle and claimed 2nd place in the 100 Butterfly. She followed up with a strong performance at the Oberlin High School Invite on December 7th, earning a 10th place finish in the 100 Butterfly. Alexa’s impact extends beyond competition—she is a leader during practice and a top participant in the team’s trivia challenges, showcasing her dedication both in and out of the water.

Senior bowler Zane Lassen delivered a career-best performance last week, rolling his highest varsity series to date. Zane bowled an impressive 190 and 215 for a total 405 series. The son of Christopher and Tara Lassen, Zane’s effort demonstrates his growth and consistency on the lanes as he continues to excel for the Sailors this season.

Congratulations to both Alexa and Zane on their achievements and their well-deserved recognition as Vermilion’s Athletes of the Week. Go Sailors!
