The City of Vermilion is set to begin road repairs on Main Street, specifically between Huron Street and Liberty Avenue, starting on August 19. According to Mayor Jim Forthofer, this section of the road will undergo a “grind and fill” process rather than a full excavation down to the roadbed, as was required for the northern section.
This approach should allow the work to proceed swiftly, with efforts made to keep traffic disruptions to a minimum. Traffic will be maintained as much as possible, particularly after work hours. The entire project is expected to be completed by August 31.
Despite the construction, Main Street Beach will remain open to the public. Visitors can access the beach by traveling down Huron Street from one of the North-South intersecting roads. Traffic will be maintained as much as possible, especially after work is done for the day, to ensure that beachgoers can still enjoy their time by the water.
