Walking through downtown Vermilion, one can’t help but notice the vibrant flowers cascading from baskets, the inviting public art projects like The Postcard Project, and the unique local art pieces gracing many homes. These charming aspects are the handiwork of Main Street Vermilion and its partner programs: Vermilion in Bloom, Public Art Vermilion, and Vermilion Arts Guild. These initiatives, along with numerous events and projects, have made Vermilion a proud community for residents and a delightful destination for visitors.

Since its formation in 2001 under the Main Street America umbrella, Main Street Vermilion has played a vital role in revitalizing the downtown area. For over 15 years, thanks to a generous donation from the Jeff Riddell family, the organization has been a cornerstone of the community. Now, in 2024, Main Street Vermilion is thrilled to announce the purchase of their building, cementing their commitment to the town they serve.

“We are thrilled to reinvest back into the community that has supported our mission for so many years,” says Micah Roberts, President of the Board of Directors. “We look forward to continuing to make an impact for generations to come.”

To celebrate this milestone, Main Street Vermilion invites everyone to a special event on August 10th from 11 am to 3 pm at their location, 685 Main Street. The celebration will feature refreshments, giveaways, prizes, and a showcase of everything that makes Main Street and Vermilion unique. This event underscores Main Street Vermilion’s enduring connection to the community and their ongoing efforts to enhance the town’s vibrancy and charm.
