The Lorain County Port Authority is actively overseeing the redevelopment plans for the Lorain County Fairgrounds, including the addition of new buildings and facilities, as part of a $12 million redevelopment plan that is scheduled for completion in time for the 2025 fair, not this year’s event.
The Ross Foundation has contributed $4 million to the project, securing naming rights for a new 55,000-square-foot exposition center and a 32,500-square-foot covered horse arena. This financial support will help transform the fairgrounds into a year-round venue for agricultural events, trade shows, and other community activities, which is a driving factor behind these changes.
The construction of these facilities is being handled by the general contractor Janotta & Herner, known for their extensive experience in design-build projects. These new structures will be integral in enhancing the fair’s ability to host large-scale events, attracting more visitors to the region and boosting local tourism.
The overall aim of this redevelopment is to modernize the fairgrounds, making them a more versatile and accessible space for various events throughout the year, ultimately contributing to the economic and social vibrancy of Lorain County.
These plans reflect a forward-looking approach by the fair board, supported by significant community investment, to ensure that the Lorain County Fair continues to be a major attraction for years to come.
