Vermilion is seeing plenty of construction activity, with multiple road, sidewalk, and infrastructure projects underway.
On the east side of town and in Vermilion-on-the-Lake, crews are working on lateral connections, currently reaching Parkland, with a focus on Essex and Fairfax. In the Valley View area, additional infrastructure improvements are ongoing.
Sidewalk improvements are also progressing, stretching from West River Road to Sanford Street and Langfitt, as well as along Pineview from the pool to Sanford Street. Meanwhile, construction of the new police station is well underway.
Looking ahead to 2025, the City Council has approved design work for several street replacement projects, though funding is still pending. These include:
- Sunnyside Road (Shady Lake to Liberty) – MPO and city cost share
- Nautical Drive (partial) – City Streets Fund
- Langfitt Street (full length) – City Streets Fund
- Highbridge Road (bridge to Park Side Reserve) – OPWC and city cost share
One major project fully approved for construction is the complete street replacement in Vermilion-on-the-Lake, from Claremont to Rowland, scheduled for April to November 2025.
Additionally, the Council is still considering whether to add Pineview Drive or a section of Brownhelm Station Road to the 2025 project list.

Stay tuned for more updates as these projects move forward!
