VERMILION — Progress continues at Showse Park as part of the ongoing revitalization and transformation project aimed at modernizing facilities and improving recreational spaces for residents.
Recent updates include:
- Final grading of the mound for upcoming landscaping work.
- Installation prep for a new concrete walkway leading up to the mound.
- A circular concrete path around the new playground area.
- Placement of a rock base, fabric overlay, and engineered mulch in the play area.
- New electrical lines for low-light illumination at the Veterans Memorial Plaza and Fish Sculpture, along with added power for the shelter house to support an AED, security cameras, and future rental use.
- Removal of the outdated swing set and old soccer goals, with ground repair underway to prep the area for future use.
- Relocation of dirt piles to create a smoother, safer open green space.
Work has also begun on Phase III, which focuses on improving the Sports Complex. Crews are removing fence mesh, adjusting pole heights, resurfacing areas, and preparing for repainting to give the complex a refreshed look.
Organizers are also planning a Showse-Palooza community event this fall to celebrate the opening of the new playground and Veterans Memorial Plaza. More details on the event, including dates and activities, are expected in the coming weeks.
