Martino’s International Café has announced that it has closed its doors after approximately 30 years in business, according to a statement posted on social media by owner Jim Trinter.

The closure was announced in a Facebook post shared by Martino’s International Café, in which Trinter described the decision as being made with “overwhelming difficulty and heartbreak.” In the statement, he thanked customers for their support over the past three decades and expressed appreciation for the relationships built with the community.

Martino’s International Café was located in Vermilion and had been in operation for roughly 30 years. In his post, Trinter stated that customers became an important part of the lives of both himself and the restaurant’s staff, and that the community made coming to work each day something to look forward to.

Trinter also praised the restaurant’s staff, noting that employees had worked to provide food and service since 1996. He stated that the goal was not to be the best restaurant in Vermilion, but to be the best restaurant anywhere, and that staff members took pride in meeting that expectation.

The announcement did not specify the exact date the restaurant ceased operations, nor did it explain the reason for the closure. Details regarding financial conditions, lease issues, staffing challenges, or other contributing factors were not provided and are not known at this time.

It is also not known whether the closure is permanent, whether the restaurant could reopen in the future, or if there are any plans involving new ownership or relocation. No information was released regarding the impact on employees or the future of the restaurant property.

The announcement concluded with Trinter expressing gratitude to the community, stating that he and the staff are thankful and blessed for the restaurant’s run in Vermilion.
