The Vermilion Sailors have kicked off the winter sports season with an impressive display of talent and determination. Athletic Director Andy Stillman recently recognized two standout athletes, Kathryn Hrpcha and Brock Meyers, as the Sailors’ Athletes of the Week for their exemplary efforts in their respective sports.

Freshman Kathryn Hrpcha: Making Waves in Wrestling
Kathryn Hrpcha, a freshman, is making a name for herself in her inaugural season on the wrestling team. Having only started her wrestling journey a little over a month and a half ago, Kathryn has already demonstrated remarkable progress and commitment. This past weekend, she secured three victories, all by way of fall, showcasing her determination and growing skill set.

“Kathryn consistently puts forth high effort and is navigating her first season of wrestling as well as a freshman can,” shared Athletic Director Stillman. “We are extremely proud of her progress and positivity!”

Her dedication and quick adaptation to the sport have earned her well-deserved recognition among her teammates and the Vermilion community.

Junior Brock Meyers: A Leader on the Court
Junior basketball player Brock Meyers continues to shine as a key contributor to the Sailors’ basketball team. In a hard-fought game against Margaretta, Brock led the Sailors with 17 points and 5 rebounds, demonstrating his leadership and resilience on the court.

Despite the team’s loss, Brock’s performance stood out as a testament to his determination and ability to rise to challenges. His efforts have made him an invaluable asset to the team and a role model for his peers.

Celebrating Excellence
The Vermilion Sailors community extends its heartfelt congratulations to Kathryn and Brock for their outstanding achievements. Their hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship embody the spirit of Sailors athletics.

The Sailors look forward to many more remarkable performances as the winter season progresses. Go Sailors!
