CLEVELAND, OHIO — A pretrial conference held July 30, 2025, involving former Vermilion Local Schools teacher Kristina Edmison and five co-defendants was continued as plea negotiations remain active, according to court records.
The hearing, which included attorneys for all parties, resulted in an oral motion by the defense to continue proceedings due to ongoing discovery and continued plea discussions. Prosecutors did not oppose the request, and the court granted the continuance.
A new pretrial has been scheduled for August 11, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. The trial date remains set for August 25, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in Courtroom 18-D at the Justice Center in Cleveland. All defendants are required to appear in person.
Edmison was indicted in early 2025 and faces felony charges related to money laundering, gambling, and corruption. She has pleaded not guilty. The case is part of a broader investigation into illegal gambling activity in Northeast Ohio.
