Reeling in the Fun: Dive into Vermilion’s Festival of the Fish 2024!

The Festival of the Fish in Vermilion, Ohio, is set to be a lively event this weekend, offering a variety of activities for attendees of all ages. This year’s theme, “Wastin’ Away in Fisharitaville,” pays tribute to Jimmy Buffett, promising a festive atmosphere filled with music, food, and fun.

Key Events for Friday, June 14, 2024:

Festival Kickoff:

  • The festival begins at noon with the opening of the Midway, featuring numerous food stalls and craft vendors.

Royalty Pageants:

  • Starting at 12:00 PM, the festival’s Royalty Pageants will take place, where young participants compete for titles such as Mister & Miss Guppy, Prince & Princess, and Queen & King.

Live Entertainment:

  • Evening entertainment includes performances by local bands, setting a vibrant mood for festival-goers.

Fireworks:

  • The night will culminate with a spectacular fireworks display over Lake Erie at 9:00 PM, providing a perfect end to the first day of festivities​

The Vermilion Chamber are dedicating the festival fireworks to the memory of Bill McCale, who served as co chair of the Vermilion Chamber Festival of the Fish for many years. Hold up your phones during the finale to let Bill know we are thinking of him up above us. Fireworks and Fireflies for Bill.

  • The day kicks off with a 5K run and 1-mile walk sponsored by the YMCA.
  • A sandcastle contest at Main Street Beach will engage families and children in creative fun.
  • Crazy Regatta Craft Contest
  • Lighted Boat Parade

Sunday, June 16, 2024:

  • The festival concludes with a grand parade showcasing vibrant floats and local organizations.
  • Other activities include a lighted boat parade, a crazy craft regatta, and firefighter water fights, providing plenty of excitement and engagement for all attendees​

The Festival of the Fish is a cherished event in Vermilion, bringing the community together to celebrate with parades, contests, and spectacular entertainment.
