Timothy Thomas Grogan, 81, of Amherst, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Mercy New Life Hospice following a brief illness.

Born on February 9, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, Timothy spent the last 25 years as a resident of Amherst, having previously lived in Vermilion.

A proud veteran of the United States AirForce, Timothy served from 1964 to 1968. His service included assignments at Yokota Air Force Base in Japan and Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base.

Timothy dedicated 39 years to owning and operating Wilmot Printing Co. in Elyria, retiring in 2009. A respected businessman, he actively participated in numerous local organizations. He was a founding member of the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Elyria Rotary, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. He also served on the boards of Elyria Memorial Hospital and Northern Savings and Loan Bank.  He was also a life member of AMVETS Post #22 and a proud Wakeman Eagles.

Timothy embraced life with enthusiasm.  Above all, Tim loved spending time with his family and friends. He cherished time spent at his Marblehead cottage, enjoying boating, golfing, and family vacations in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Known for his cheerful personality and ability to bring joy to those around him, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Timothy is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Pauline (née Lukasko) Grogan of Amherst; daughter Melissa (Harry) Hatten of Vermilion; son Tim Grogan of Elyria; grandchildren Ashley (Jim) Reid, Hannah L. Hatten, and Hunter H.J. Hatten; great grandchildren, James and Reagan Reid, sister Kathleen (Tom) Anguish of Massachusetts; brother-in-law Wayne Truax of Cleveland; and many cherished nieces and nephews.  He also loved his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John M. and Clara (née Wiatrowski) Grogan; his brother John Grogan; and his sister Mary Truax.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Military honors will precede the service. A reception will follow to celebrate Timothy’s life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association,  3 Summit Park Drive, #550, Independence, OH 44131 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
