Vermilion residents are invited to attend a “Meet the Candidate” event for mayoral candidate Russ Owens on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 6 to 9 p.m. at German’s Villa, located at 3330 Liberty Avenue in Vermilion.
The evening will include a free community dinner, featuring spaghetti with handmade meatballs prepared by Owens’s family. The event is open to the public and designed to give residents an opportunity to learn more about the candidate and his vision for the city.

The format will follow a public Q&A model, where attendees can submit questions when they arrive, which will then be read aloud and answered during the event. This style of forum has been used in previous election cycles and was well received for its openness and community involvement.
“I’m really honored for the chance to run for mayor,” Owens said. “I’m looking forward to hearing what’s on people’s minds and answering their questions. Come out Thursday, enjoy a good meal, and be part of the conversation—even if you’re just there to listen.”
Don’t cook dinner on Thursday—Russ and German’s Villa are making it for you. Come hungry and bring your questions.

This dinner aims to foster community connection and give Vermilion voters a chance to engage directly with a candidate of the upcoming mayoral race.
