GREEN, OHIO — May 26, 2025 — A 13-year-old boy tragically lost his life during the City of Green’s Memorial Day Parade Monday morning after falling from a parade float and being struck by the vehicle’s trailer tires.

According to a statement released by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 11:23 a.m. while the juvenile was participating in the parade as part of a float. The teen reportedly fell from the trailer and was struck by its dual rear tires.

Emergency personnel from Green Fire EMS, already on-site to support the event, immediately responded. The boy was transported to Akron City Hospital, but due to the severity of his injuries, he was later pronounced dead at Akron Children’s Hospital.

The name of the young victim has not been released publicly.

Sheriff Kandy Fatheree and the Summit County Sheriff’s Office expressed their heartfelt condolences, stating, “Our sincere condolences and prayers go out to the family.”

The incident remains under investigation, and no further details have been made available at this time.

The tragedy has shaken the Green community, turning what should have been a day of remembrance into a day of sorrow.
