Support the Flags on Liberty Program: A Call for Donations

In Vermilion, Ohio, the Flags on Liberty program has long been a source of pride, uniting our community and honoring our nation. Throughout the year, the streets of Liberty Avenue are adorned with American flags, proudly waving as symbols of our collective patriotism. These flags remind us of the freedoms we enjoy and the unity we strive to uphold. However, after a recent storm, our flag display has suffered significant damage, leaving us in urgent need of support from the community.

The storm’s strong winds and heavy rain resulted in the downfall of 31 flags along Liberty Avenue. Many of these flags, along with their poles and brackets, were severely damaged beyond repair. Some flags must now be retired and respectfully destroyed, as they no longer meet the standards to continue flying. This unfortunate event has also left our flag supply dangerously low, threatening the continuation of this cherished program not only for the remainder of this year but also for the future.

Maintaining the Flags on Liberty program requires ongoing effort and resources. Each flagpole, bracket, and flag must be carefully selected, installed, and maintained. When storms like the recent one hit, it underscores how vulnerable our flags are to the elements. It also highlights the importance of having a robust supply of flags and equipment to quickly replace what has been damaged or destroyed.

Unfortunately, the storm’s impact has put a strain on our already limited resources. The current balance in the Flags on Liberty bank account is running low, and we need to replenish our supply of swivel poles and brackets to ensure that our flags can continue to fly high. Without immediate donations, we may struggle to keep the flags flying this year, and we certainly won’t be able to prepare adequately for next year.

This is where you, the members of our community, come in. We are asking for your generous support to help sustain the Flags on Liberty program. Your donations will go directly toward purchasing new flags, poles, and brackets, allowing us to replace what has been lost and continue to proudly display our flags throughout the year. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a significant difference.

Donating is simple and secure. Contributions can be made in person at Huntington Bank, where you can specifically designate your donation to the Flags on Liberty account. If you prefer, you can also mail your donation to Flags on Liberty at 5196 Devon Dr., Vermilion, Ohio, 44089. Every dollar you contribute goes directly into maintaining and enhancing the display of American flags on Liberty Avenue.

The Flags on Liberty program is more than just a display of flags; it is a testament to the spirit and unity of Vermilion. By contributing, you’re not only helping to maintain a tradition that honors our country, but you’re also supporting a program that brings our community together in pride and patriotism. We thank you in advance for your generosity and commitment to keeping Vermilion’s flags flying high. Together, we can ensure that Liberty Avenue remains a beacon of American pride for years to come.
