Traffic was slowed on State Route 2 eastbound late Sunday afternoon following a vehicle fire between Oak Point Road and State Route 58.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m., with emergency crews from Amherst Police and Fire responding swiftly to the scene. According to an alert from the Amherst Police Department, the vehicle fire resulted in traffic being reduced to a single lane, causing delays in the area.
No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Crews are working to fully extinguish the blaze and clear the scene.
Motorists are advised to use caution and expect slowdowns if traveling eastbound on Route 2 near the affected area. No estimated time for full lane reopening has been announced.
