The debut came alongside the unveiling of a new FFA barn, built to support both Vermilion and Margaretta FFA chapters. The barn became a hub of activity during the fair, drawing visitors who stopped to see the student projects and learn more about FFA’s mission of building leadership, personal growth, and career skills through agricultural education.
Kamryn J. earned Champion Poster Project with her “Saddle Up” design. Trent J. received champion honors in metal working for his cutaway engine display, which allowed viewers to see inside the machinery.
The chapter also reached another milestone with its first livestock entry at the fair. Trey C. exhibited a pen of three market rabbits and a single fryer, placing fourth in a class of 12. It was an impressive accomplishment for a first-year showman.
“The students have worked incredibly hard this year,” said chapter advisor Claire Vilagi. “To see them succeed at this level, especially during our first year at this fair, is both exciting and encouraging for the future. This is only the beginning for Vermilion FFA.”
With multiple awards in their debut year, Vermilion FFA has established itself as a new and promising presence in Erie County’s agricultural community.
