The Vermilion Fire Department responded to a variety of incidents between July 12 and July 18, ranging from traffic accidents to fire alarms and a submerged boat. Below is a summary of the department’s activity for the week:

  • July 12 – 4:28 PM: Crews responded to a single-vehicle accident at the SR 2 rest area. One truck and five personnel were dispatched. Minor injuries were reported.
  • July 14 – 12:38 AM: A residential fire alarm was reported on Hull Lane. Firefighters arrived to find no active fire or hazard. Two trucks with five personnel responded.
  • July 16 – 10:45 AM: A three-car motor vehicle accident occurred at SR 2 and Baumhart Road. Crews assisted with traffic control. Two trucks with three personnel were on scene.
  • July 16 – 8:22 PM: A commercial fire alarm on Exchange Street prompted a response from two trucks and eight personnel. The alarm was determined to be accidental.
  • July 17 – 10:19 PM: A report of a submerged boat at a marina on West River Road drew three trucks and nine personnel. Crews checked for potential fluid spills and released the scene to marina staff after ensuring safety.

These responses reflect the continued vigilance and professionalism of our fire and emergency personnel.

In case of emergency, always dial 911. For non-emergency inquiries, the Vermilion Fire Department can be reached through the city’s administrative offices.
