Vermilion Fire Department Incidents
VERMILION — The Vermilion Fire Department responded to a range of calls between August 17 and August 22, providing assistance across the community. From the desk of Vermilion Fire Chief Bill Brown. Below is a summary of the incidents reported during the week:
August 17
- 11:01 a.m. — EMS Assist — Liberty Avenue
Crews responded to assist Lifecare for a subject experiencing a mental health crisis. Two trucks with eight personnel were on scene. - 11:12 a.m. — EMS Assist — Niagara Road
Dispatched for a patient experiencing chest pains. Two trucks and eight personnel responded.
August 18
- 6:36 a.m. — Stove Fire — State Street
Crews extinguished a small stove fire upon arrival. Two trucks with four personnel responded.
August 19
- 11:56 a.m. — Motor Vehicle Accident — SR 2 & Baumhart Road
Responded to a single-vehicle crash. No injuries were reported. Three trucks and five personnel were on scene. - 4:20 p.m. — EMS Assist — Bank Road
Assisted Lifecare with a bariatric lift assist. Two trucks and six personnel responded.
August 20
- 8:39 a.m. — Natural Gas Odor — Liberty Avenue
Crews investigated a reported gas line strike but determined no line was damaged. Columbia Gas took over the scene. Three trucks with six personnel responded. - 6:21 p.m. — CO Alarm Activation — Fisher Street
Responded to a carbon monoxide alarm. Investigation determined the detector was faulty. Two trucks and seven personnel were on scene. - 9:28 p.m. — EMS Assist — Exchange Street
Assisted Lifecare with an unresponsive patient. One truck and eight personnel responded. - 9:59 p.m. — EMS Assist — Jackson Street
Dispatched for an elderly patient who was unresponsive. One truck with eight personnel responded.
August 21
- 9:31 p.m. — Commercial Fire Alarm — Liberty Avenue
Crews responded to a water flow alarm and discovered a ruptured sprinkler line pipe. Four trucks with seven personnel responded.
August 22
- 2:31 p.m. — Grass Fire — SR 2 & Baumhart Road
Dispatched for a fire in the highway median. Three trucks and six personnel responded. - 2:59 p.m. — Commercial Fire Alarm — Liberty Avenue
Crews responded to a commercial alarm triggered during maintenance. False alarm. Three trucks with six personnel were on scene.
