The Vermilion Fire Department has added four new firefighters to its ranks, Chief Bill Brown announced during the Health and Safety Committee meeting on Monday, February 10.

The new hires are:

  • Jim Aunspaw – Firefighter 2 certified, Firelands High School graduate, assigned to Station 2.
  • Colin Ransom – Firefighter 2 certified, Firelands graduate, active member of the Air National Guard, assigned to Station 1.
  • Art Mead – HazMat Technician, self-employed, assigned to Station 1, starting fire school immediately.
  • Andrea Barto – EMT, completing Paramedic program, assigned to Station 2, also starting fire school.

These additions strengthen the department’s emergency response capabilities as the new hires bring a mix of experience and training to their roles. Welcome to Vermilion! Thank you for serving our Community.
