VERMILION — Felony charges have been filed following a months-long investigation by the Vermilion Police Department involving a juvenile, a case authorities say was handled with discretion to protect the minor involved.
According to investigators, Andrew S. Oliver, 33, was arrested in November after the investigation concluded. The case has since been bound over to the Lorain County Court of Common Pleas.
Court and police records show Oliver faces felony charges including gross sexual imposition, grooming and pandering obscenity involving a minor.
The investigation included coordination with Children Services as well as review by the Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office prior to the filing of charges.
Authorities said the case was handled with discretion because it involved a juvenile. Details about the minor were not released in accordance with Ohio’s Crime Victims’ Bill of Rights, commonly known as Marsy’s Law, and out of concern for the child’s well-being.
The case is now under the jurisdiction of the Lorain County Court of Common Pleas, where further proceedings are expected. No trial date has yet been announced.
