The Vermilion Poetry Society is inviting residents to celebrate creativity and connection this fall with two free poetry events at the Harbourtown Fine Arts Center, 736 Main Street in Vermilion.

Coffee House Poetry Night will be held Friday, October 17, from 7 to 9 p.m. The relaxed evening welcomes everyone — from seasoned poets to casual listeners — to share an original poem or read a favorite work by another writer. Guests can enjoy coffee, conversation, and the warmth of Vermilion’s creative community.

Two Poetry Writing Workshops will follow in November, led by Vermilion’s Poet Laureate, Joette McDonald.

  • Saturday, November 8 (10–11:30 a.m.): Students ages 8–18
  • Saturday, November 15 (10–11:30 a.m.): Adults

Both workshops are free and will also take place at Harbourtown Fine Arts Center. Space is limited, and registration is required by November 1. To register, email vermilionpoetrysociety@gmail.com or send your name, address, cell phone, email, and workshop preference to HFAC, PO Box 557, Vermilion, OH 44089.

These events offer an opportunity to share, learn, and enjoy the power of poetry together — because in Vermilion, everyone has a voice worth hearing.
