Vermilion Police Blotter: August 25 – August 31, 2025

The following incidents were reported by the Vermilion Police Department for the week of August 25 through August 31, 2025. This report comes from the desk of Vermilion Police Chief Chris Hartung and highlights calls for service, investigations, and notable activity handled by officers during the week.


Weekly Highlights

  • August 25
    • Ohio Turnpike at Baumhart Road — Units responded to a report of two females possibly abducted from Cleveland. The suspect was located and taken into custody by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Investigation to be handled by Cleveland PD and OSP.
    • 600 block of Douglas Street — Property damage complaint involving a hole in the siding of a building.
    • 1000 block of Jefferson Street — Caller reported a possible burglary. No items were missing, but food had been consumed and bedding moved. No suspects at this time.
  • August 26
    • Liberty Ave — Subject escaped an evaluation unit at Mercy. Located after a brief pursuit and returned to Mercy.
    • 600 block of Woodside Ave — Property damage complaint due to a fallen powerline.
  • August 27
    • 700 block of Regina Drive — EMS assist, subject transported to Mercy.
    • 600 block of South Shore Court — Caller reported possible domestic violence from the previous day. Report started and referred to the detective bureau.
    • 1200 block of Wildwood Drive — Fraud complaint filed.
    • 800 block of State Street — Report of a stolen package from a porch.
  • August 28
    • 4400 block of Liberty Ave — Subject with an active Amherst PD warrant arrested and turned over to APD.
    • Liberty Ave — Parking complaint/citation issued.
  • August 29
    • Salem Drive — Traffic accident reported.
    • 4400 block of Howard Drive — Disturbance reported. Parties separated for the night.
    • 4500 block of Liberty Ave — Bar tab dispute resolved; suspect returned to pay bill.
    • 4800 block of Liberty Ave — Intoxicated male found sleeping by dumpsters; transported to Mercy for evaluation.
  • August 30
    • 800 block of Vermilion Road — Disturbance over civil issues; parties separated for the day.
    • Liberty Ave — Traffic accident reported.
    • 200 block of Erie Road — Domestic violence reported. Suspect arrested and transported to Lorain County Jail pending arraignment.
  • August 31
    • Anchorage Way — Traffic accident reported.
    • Liberty Ave — Traffic accident reported.
    • Vermilion Road — Traffic accident; driver found under the influence and arrested for OVI.
