The following incidents were reported to the Vermilion Police Department between July 14 and July 20, 2025, as provided by Chief Chris Hartung. This weekly blotter highlights a range of activity including fraud complaints, vandalism, and multiple arrests stemming from traffic stops and other incidents.

July 14, 2025

  • 1:53 AM – Sandusky Street: A driver stopped for a moving violation was found to be driving under suspension and arrested.
  • 6:09 AM – 1200 block of Beechview Drive: A business reported a bicycle had been thrown through a window overnight.
  • 11:25 AM – 8000 block of West Erie Road: A salvage vehicle scheduled for auction was reported stolen and entered into the system.
  • 2:20 PM – Liberty Ave: A motor vehicle accident occurred with no injuries.
  • 4:29 PM – 300 block of Nantucket Place: Fraud complaint filed.
  • 5:14 PM – 320 block of Salem Drive: Fraud complaint filed.
  • 10:31 PM – Overlook Drive: A driver stopped for a moving violation was arrested for driving under suspension.
  • 10:53 PM – Sandusky Street: A caller reported being followed by a vehicle, suspecting her ex was a passenger. The vehicle was located; two passengers were cited for underage alcohol possession.

July 15, 2025

  • 6:42 AM – 5700 block of Liberty Ave: Telecommunications harassment reported.
  • 3:56 PM – Hollyview Drive: Parking complaint investigated.
  • 8:41 PM – Showse Park: A juvenile riding a dirt bike in the park was located and removed.

July 16, 2025

  • 9:18 AM – South Shore Court: Parking violation resulted in a citation.
  • 2:21 PM – 100 block of Aldrich Road: A homeowner allegedly threatened an Ohio Edison worker. Police escorted the worker and cautioned the resident.

July 17, 2025

  • 7:50 PM – South Shore Court: Police responded to a disturbance between a male and female. Both were located and spoken to.

July 18, 2025

  • 5:32 AM – 1200 block of Beechview Drive: A golf ball reportedly broke a window; vandalism complaint filed.
  • 10:22 AM – 2300 block of Vermilion Road: A barn was entered and tools stolen; no suspects at this time.
  • 5:36 PM – Main Street Beach: A Pennsylvania license was found.
  • 5:43 PM – Cinema Court: Motor vehicle accident with no injuries.
  • 8:26 PM – Grand Street: Parking violation cited.

July 19, 2025

  • 9:15 AM – 1000 block of Jefferson Street: Welfare check completed; subject okay.
  • 1:58 PM – 400 block of Morton Road: Open burning complaint involving a stump; the subject extinguished the fire after being advised of regulations.
  • 6:43 PM – Main Street Beach: A caller reported individuals harassing a blue heron; the suspects were found and told to stop.
  • 11:17 PM – 450 block of Nantucket Place: Juveniles were reported running in and out of a building; they left before police arrival.

July 20, 2025

  • 9:59 AM – Exchange Street: Motor vehicle accident with no injuries.
  • 11:04 AM – 5000 block of Southview Court: Fraud complaint reported.
  • 4:05 PM – Liberty Ave: Motor vehicle accident with no injuries.
  • 10:11 PM – 1200 block of Hollyview Drive: Domestic violence reported. Police separated the parties and are reviewing the incident for potential charges.
