Vermilion Police Blotter: June 9th – June 15th, 2025

Vermilion police responded to a variety of calls last week, including multiple domestic disturbances, fraud complaints, and motor vehicle incidents. Officers also made arrests related to drug possession, outstanding warrants, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Disturbances and Disputes

Police were called to several verbal disturbances throughout the week. On June 9th, officers responded to the 900 block of Jefferson Street, the 800 block of Riverside Drive, and the 700 block of Vermilion Road for reported disturbances. In all cases, parties were interviewed and separated for the day as the incidents were determined to be verbal, not physical. An ongoing issue was noted at the 700 block of Vermilion Road. Another verbal disturbance involving a juvenile occurred on June 10th in the 4300 block of Tomahawk Lane. On June 14th, a disturbance was reported in the 1000 block of Sanford Street, where parties were again separated.

Neighbor disputes also kept officers busy, with a property line disagreement reported on June 9th in the 3400 block of Edgewater. Civil complaints included a money dispute on June 9th in the 700 block of Vermilion Road and a personal property issue on June 10th in the 5900 block of Edson Street. An unruly juvenile complaint was logged on June 11th in the 300 block of Parkland.

Fraud, Theft, and Arrests

Fraud complaints involving credit cards were reported on June 9th in the 1600 block of North Ridge Road and the 200 block of Claremont Road. Theft of medications was reported on June 10th in the 300 block of Claremont Road, and a general theft complaint on June 14th in the 5200 block of Langfitt Street.

Several arrests were made during the week:

  • On June 10th, a female found in a garage in the 800 block of Aurora Drive was arrested for possession of drugs.
  • On June 12th, a subject with an arrest warrant from Lorain County was apprehended in the 600 block of Decatur Street and transferred to Lorain County S.O.
  • On June 13th, a driver on Main Street operating a golf cart without headlights was stopped and subsequently arrested for OVI (Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated).
  • On June 15th, officers responded to a report of a subject who kicked in a door in the 3800 block of Edgewater Drive. The suspect, a prior resident with personal property in the house, was taken into custody, and the incident was forwarded to the prosecutor for review.

Traffic and Welfare Checks

Motor vehicle accidents occurred on June 10th on Berkley Road, June 11th on Liberty Ave, and June 15th on Adams Street and Liberty Ave. Parking citations were issued on Main Street on June 13th.

Police also conducted a welfare check on June 15th in the 3500 block of Liberty Ave, locating the subject who was found to be okay. Later that day, officers responded to a male suffering from a possible overdose in a public bathroom on Main Street. The male was found to be intoxicated and was turned over to a sober party.

Wildlife Incidents

Officers responded to calls regarding injured wildlife, with an injured deer located and disposed of on June 12th in the 2300 block of Liberty Ave. An injured racoon was located and disposed of on June 13th in the 200 block of Altamont Road. On June 14th, another injured raccoon was located and disposed of in the 300 block of Woodridge Road.
