
From unruly juveniles to a dramatic ditch-side rescue, the latest blotter from the desk of Vermilion Police Chief Chris Hartung gives a look into the week’s law enforcement activity. Below are the highlights from May 19 to May 26, 2025:
May 19
- 4700 block of Hollyview Dr (1504 hrs): Officers responded to an unruly juvenile complaint.
- Liberty Ave (1631 hrs): A passenger stopped for a traffic violation was found to have an active warrant from Lorain Police. Taken into custody and transferred to LPD.
- 5300 block of Sailorway Dr (1845 hrs): Harassment complaint filed.
May 20
- 400 block of Ferndale Dr (1121 hrs): Civil property dispute resolved when the item was returned to the owner.
May 21
- Sandusky St (0943 hrs): Traffic stop led to arrest for driving under suspension.
- 500 block of Main St (1240 hrs): Civil protection order violation. Suspect arrested and booked into Erie County Jail.
- 5500 block of Ingleside Dr (2341 hrs): Telecommunications harassment reported.
May 22
- 200 block of Altamont Rd (1419 hrs): Menacing complaint.
- 4700 block of Hollyview Dr (1555 hrs): Report of fraud received.
May 23
- 800 block of Aurora Dr (1113 hrs): Civil complaint over property.
May 24
- 4600 block of Mapleview Dr (2158 hrs): Officers handled a complaint about an injured possum. The animal was located and removed.
- 3400 block of Brownhelm Station Rd (2312 hrs): A female was reported missing and later found in a ditch behind the residence. Fire and EMS rescued her and she was taken to Mercy Hospital for evaluation.
May 25
- SR2 (0051 hrs): Motor vehicle accident responded to.
- 600 block of South Shore Ct (0921 hrs): Juveniles reported playing with BB guns.
May 26
- Hollyview Dr (1022 hrs): Another suspended driver arrested during a traffic stop.
- Liberty Ave (1445 hrs): Driver found with a large quantity of marijuana. Cited accordingly.
