June 3rd, 2025 The day began with routine activities including business checks at various locations like the Post Office, Wendy’s, Pet Depot, and Main Street Beach. Traffic stops resulted in warnings for expired plates and a citation for another expired plate. Officers also assisted another agency on Jefferson St. and conducted foot patrols.

- 3:15 PM – Disturbance (Edison Dr.): Officers responded to a disturbance where a female was reported to be getting physical with the caller. A police report was required for this incident.
- 5:38 PM – Weapons Offense (Jackson St.): Police investigated a report of a male shooting a gun in a backyard. After speaking with the homeowner and searching the property, no evidence was found, and the suspect was gone upon arrival.
- 7:33 PM – Harassment (South Shore Ct.): A caller reported harassment by an ex-boyfriend who allegedly accessed her old phone, downloaded information, and threatened to send it to her contacts, also using it to track her location. The female was advised that the ex-boyfriend would be informed not to contact her, or he would face telecommunications harassment charges.
Later in the evening, a non-injury traffic crash occurred at Grand St. and Liberty Ave. A juvenile complaint at Main Street Beach involved three juveniles jumping off the west pier into the river; they were advised not to swim there. The day concluded with radar calibrations at the Police Department and various extra patrols.
June 4th, 2025 The early morning hours saw numerous business checks across Vermilion, covering marinas, schools, banks, restaurants, and other establishments, alongside extra patrols in residential areas. A civil matter was reported on Washington St. involving a subject reporting trouble with his daughter’s boyfriend but no criminal activity. A menacing complaint originating from Mercy Regional Medical Center was investigated.
- 4:37 PM – Traffic Crash – Non-Injury (Vermilion Police Department): An individual reported to the police station that they were struck by a vehicle in front of Romps Dairy Dock. The incident caused damage to their motorcycle, though no injuries were sustained. An OH-1 report was to be completed, with follow-up planned with the other party involved.
Throughout the rest of the day, patrol activities continued with more business checks and extra patrols. Welfare checks were conducted on W Washington St. for a trespassing individual. A disturbance on Northview Ct. involved an argument between friends, and a juvenile complaint on Woodside Ave/Lorain Dr. concerned juveniles on railroad tracks who were advised to move to a park. June 5th, 2025 The early morning was characterized by continued foot patrols and business checks at various commercial locations. Extra patrols were carried out in residential areas and parks.
- 7:00 AM – Welfare Check (Erie Rd.): Police and LifeCare responded to a welfare check after receiving a text message from a possibly suicidal individual. The person was subsequently transported by LifeCare to Mercy for evaluation.
An assist to another agency on SR2/SR60 involved locating a vehicle suspected of having an intoxicated driver with children; the vehicle was turned over to OSP. A suspicious person/vehicle was reported at Bowl Thyme, which turned out to be the business owner checking an alarm. The blotter also included a trespassing incident on Edgewater Blvd. where drug paraphernalia was found on private property, requiring a report, and a civil standby on W Washington St
