Brought to you from the desk of Athletic Director Andrew Stillman

This week, we shine a spotlight on two outstanding athletes from Vermilion Sailors Athletics—Ashton Juszczyk and Johnathan Brass—whose dedication and hard work have been making waves both on and off the field

Ashton Juszczyk – Junior, Wrestling
Ashton Juszczyk has been on an impressive streak, winning 7 of his last 9 wrestling matches. The junior recently competed at the John Matteucci Invitational at Eastlake North on January 11th, where he finished with a 4-1 record. Just last weekend, on February 1st, he earned a finalist spot at the Carey Classic, going 3-1 in the tournament.

Known for his relentless work ethic, Ashton is one of the hardest-working athletes on the team, always pushing himself to improve. His commitment to excellence and his sportsmanship make him a great representative of Sailor athletics, and he is more than deserving of this recognition.

Johnathan Brass – Senior, Swimming
In his first season as a swimmer for the Sailors, senior Johnathan Brass has shown tremendous growth and perseverance. Opting to try a new sport this winter season, Johnathan’s improvement has been evident every week, both in practice and during competitions.

At the Margaretta Polar Bear Winter Classic Meet on February 3rd, Johnathan set personal records in both the 25-yard Freestyle and 50-yard Freestyle events. His standout performances contributed significantly to the Sailors’ success, as he also played a key role in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay team, helping them finish in 8th place. His efforts netted a total of 7 points for the team, making him an invaluable asset to the squad.

Congratulations to these two exemplary athletes for their hard work, dedication, and impressive achievements this week! Keep up the great work, Ashton and Johnathan and Gooooo Sailors!
