Vermilion Local Schools received an overall rating of 3.5 stars on the newly released 2025 Ohio School Report Card, a decline from the 4-star rating the district earned last year.

The district continues to excel in graduation rates with a 97 percent four-year rate, earning 5 stars in that category. It also received 4 stars for achievement and gap closing, showing students are meeting or exceeding standards in academics and narrowing learning gaps.
However, ratings were lower in other areas. The district earned 3 stars in progress and early literacy, meaning student growth and K–3 reading outcomes only met expectations. The lowest score came in College, Career, Workforce, and Military Readiness, where Vermilion received 2 stars, signaling challenges in preparing students for opportunities beyond graduation.
The release comes as the district has a bond levy on the November ballot, which, if approved, would fund repairs and improvements to school facilities. While the levy focuses on infrastructure rather than academics, the report card underscores both strengths and areas where students are struggling.
