Vermilion graduate to compete in Peru
KENT — Former Vermilion High School standout Ayden Bath has been selected to represent Team USA at the 2026 FISU America Games in Lima, Peru.
The FISU America Games are a biennial international multi-sport competition for university athletes representing countries across the Americas and the Caribbean.
The Kent State track and field athlete will compete in the decathlon July 31 and Aug. 1. The games began July 20 and continue through Aug. 1.
“Being selected to compete at the FISU America Games is an honor and a huge milestone I have worked so hard to achieve,” Bath said. “I am honored to be able to represent my university and my country on the international stage.”
Bath credited his coaches, family and friends for helping him reach the international competition.
“This opportunity would not be possible without the countless hours of guidance from my coaches as well as the support from family and friends,” he said. “I am truly grateful and ready for this opportunity.”
Bath, a 2022 Vermilion High School graduate, was a two-time indoor state champion, two-time All-American and four-time All-Ohio honoree during his career with the Sailors.
He has continued that success at Kent State, winning back-to-back Mid-American Conference decathlon championships. Bath’s personal-best score of 7,466 points ranks third in Kent State program history.
The competition will mark Bath’s first decathlon in more than a year after he redshirted during the most recent outdoor season.
The fourth FISU America Games will bring together university athletes from 18 countries across North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. It is the largest field of participating countries in the event’s history
