From the Desk of Athletic Director Andy Stillman

The Vermilion Sailors Athletic Department is proud to recognize two outstanding senior athletes for their dedication, hard work, and recent accomplishments. These student-athletes exemplify the spirit of Vermilion athletics both in competition and in their contributions to the community.

Erin Ellis – Swimming

Senior Erin Ellis, a four-year member of the Sailors swim team and team captain, continues to leave her mark on the program. In addition to competing, Erin volunteers with the 7th and 8th grade Vermilion Club Swim Team, helping to mentor the next generation of swimmers. At the NW Section 6 Meet on February 8th, hosted at Oak Harbor High School, Erin had a record-setting performance. She placed 11th in the 50 Freestyle with a new school record time of 27.83 seconds and 6th in the 100 Backstroke, also setting a school record with a time of 1:09.21. Erin was a key member of the girls’ 200 Medley Relay team, which finished 7th, and she led off the 200 Freestyle Relay team, which placed 10th. Her efforts have earned her a spot at the NW District Meet at Bowling Green State University on February 14th, where she will compete in the 50-yard Freestyle, 100-yard Backstroke, and 200-yard Medley Relay.

Rey Birdwell – Bowling

Senior Rey Birdwell delivered a standout performance in a recent matchup against Sandusky, bowling a personal-best game of 199 and a series of 345—an impressive 81 pins over her average. Her strong showing helped lead the Lady Sailors to the Lake Division SBC Conference title. Beyond her success on the lanes, Rey is also a talented artist and plans to continue her education at Kent State University. She is the daughter of Dianna and Jeff Birdwell.

Congratulations to Erin and Rey on their achievements! Their dedication and perseverance set a great example for Sailors athletics. Go Sailors!
