VERMILION — Grace United Methodist Church welcomed Pastor Preston Watkins back to the pulpit Sunday, April 26, following his recent paternity leave.
Watkins had taken time away from his pastoral duties to be with his family following the birth of his newborn daughter, Leanette.
During his absence, retired Pastor Roger Skelley-Watts stepped in to lead the congregation, handling pastoral responsibilities and helping provide continuity for worship services and church care.
The church expressed gratitude to Skelley-Watts for his service during Watkins’ time away.
Watkins’ return was warmly received by the congregation. His first sermon back was titled “Knowing That Voice,” focusing on themes of faith, recognition and spiritual attentiveness.
Grace United Methodist Church thanked Skelley-Watts for his dedicated service and invited the community to help welcome Watkins back as he resumes his ministry.
“It is a true blessing to be back with this wonderful congregation,” Watkins said. “This season of welcoming our daughter has been filled with joy, and I am grateful for the love and support shown to my family. I look forward to continuing our journey of faith together.”
