Six recalls prompt safety warning

Residents urged to check household products

Ohio residents are being encouraged to check their homes for six recalled products, including children’s items, food and dietary supplements that could pose health or safety risks.

The recalls, announced by federal agencies throughout October, involve baby bath seats, high chairs, infant gripe water, cheddar cheese, broccoli sprouting seeds and a workout supplement.

Several products were available through national retailers or online stores, making the warnings relevant to households throughout Ohio.

Children’s products

Costway convertible high chairs: About 3,332 high chairs were recalled Oct. 22 because children could slip through an opening between the tray and seat, creating entrapment and fall hazards. Consumers should stop using the chairs and contact Costway for a free replacement.

ONTHEWEI baby bath seats: About 2,140 seats were recalled Oct. 8 because they can tip over, creating a drowning hazard. The affected model is MY002. Consumers should stop using the seats and contact the company for a refund.

Babies’ Magic Tea Baby Sleep Gripe Water: One lot was recalled after testing found ethanol, methanol and isopropanol that were not listed on the label. The affected lot is 25122bw, with a best-before date of December 2028. Parents and caregivers should stop using the product and follow the manufacturer’s recall instructions.

Food and supplements

Gardeners Basics broccoli sprouting seeds: One-pound packages of Waltham 29 Broccoli Sprouting Seeds marked “Packed for 2027” were recalled because of possible Salmonella contamination. Consumers should discard the affected seeds and any sprouts grown from them.

Family Farmstead Dairy cheddar cheese: Raw mild cheddar cheese with a July 22, 2027, best-by date was recalled over possible E. coli contamination. Consumers should discard the cheese or return it for a refund. The company identified distribution primarily in eastern states but said other states may have received the product.

RAPTURE Preworkout: Leader Formulas recalled lot 260327-4 after testing found DMAA, a stimulant that can raise blood pressure and cause serious cardiovascular problems. Consumers should stop using the supplement.

Residents are encouraged to check product labels, lot numbers and purchase records to determine whether they have any recalled items.

The recalls do not necessarily mean the products were sold in Ohio, but online and nationwide distribution means some Ohio households could have purchased them.
