New splash pad opens at Vermilion Community Pool

Dedication set for June 29 at Sherod Park

VERMILION — Families will soon have a new place to cool off this summer as the new splash pad at the Vermilion Community Pool is dedicated later this month.

The Sherod Park Splash Pad Dedication is scheduled for 4 p.m. June 29 at the Vermilion Community Pool, 4846 Pineview Drive.

The project was completed through a partnership between the Vermilion Parks and Recreation Department and Grace United Methodist Church. Community members, local officials, church representatives and families are invited to attend the dedication ceremony.

The splash pad is intended to provide a safe and accessible place for children to stay active, cool off and enjoy the summer.

“This project reflects our shared commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Vermilion residents,” said Marc Weisenberger, supervisor of parks and recreation. “By working together, we have created a space where children can play, families can gather, and memories can be made for years to come.”

The ceremony will include brief remarks from project partners, a ribbon-cutting and an opportunity for children to be among the first to use the splash pad.

The dedication ceremony will take place at Sherod Park from 4 to 4:30 p.m. Admission to the ceremony is free. Afterward, families will be invited to head over to the Vermilion Community Pool, where children can use the new splash pad from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at no charge.

The public is encouraged to attend and celebrate the new addition to Vermilion’s parks and recreation offerings.
