Rockin' on the River

The Lorain Port and Finance Authority has officially acquired Rockin’ on the River, a beloved summer concert series in Lorain, for $225,000. This acquisition, designed to ensure the continuation and enhancement of the event, also includes a consulting agreement with the original owner, Bob Earley, who will receive $25,000 annually for his expertise over the next few years.

This purchase marks a significant step in the Port Authority’s broader mission to revitalize downtown Lorain and enhance the community’s cultural offerings. Rockin’ on the River, known for drawing thousands of attendees each week during the summer, will continue to be held at Black River Landing, a key venue in the city.

Bob Earley, who managed the event for over a decade, played a crucial role in building the concert series into a regional attraction. His continued involvement through the consulting agreement will help ensure a smooth transition and the sustained success of the event under the new management. The Port Authority plans to retain the elements that have made the series popular while exploring new opportunities to expand and improve the experience for attendees.

This acquisition reflects the Lorain Port Authority’s commitment to supporting economic development and community engagement. By securing the future of Rockin’ on the River, the Authority is ensuring that this staple of Lorain’s summer entertainment scene will continue to thrive and contribute to the city’s ongoing revitalization efforts.
