Michael Joseph Krupienski's Arraignment Hearing Delayed

Michael Joseph Krupienski’s arraignment hearing at Vermilion Municipal Court for reckless homicide has been delayed until he undergoes a psychiatric evaluation. His counsel, Nicholas Phillips, and City Prosecutor Wayne Nicol met before the arraignment in Judge Zach Dolyk’s chambers around 1:30 p.m. The arraignment officially began at approximately 2:05 p.m.

Both the defense counsel, the prosecutor, and the court expressed concerns that Mr. Krupienski may be a danger to himself. As a result, Judge Dolyk ordered that he be referred to Psych and Psych in Elyria for an evaluation. This assessment will assist in determining the conditions of his bond. Around ten family members and friends attended the hearing to show their support. Once the psychiatric evaluation is complete, the arraignment will continue, and bond conditions will be addressed.

Following the hearing, family and friends gathered to speak with the prosecutor. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available regarding Mr. Krupienski’s hearing, plea, and bond conditions.
