Jacqueline “Jaci” M. Raider, 85, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, at New Life Hospice after a prolonged illness.

Born March 7, 1939, in Solan, Ohio, Jaci grew up in Valley City. She spent four decades in Columbus, working for the Democratic Caucus at the State House. After retiring in 2019, Jaci moved to Vermilion to live in “The Cottage,” a home she adored for its close proximity to the beach and peaceful lake views from her porch.

Jaci loved spending time with her family and friends, shopping, and decorating her cherished Cottage. She had a passion for flowers and gardening, often creating beautiful spaces to share with others. Known for her vibrant personality, sharp sense of style, and talent for decorating, Jaci brought warmth and joy wherever she went. She was a dedicated supporter of her grandchildren’s activities and an avid fan of the Cleveland Guardians, Browns, and Ohio State football.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norbert and Emma Matt; her brother, David Matt; and her sister, Joyce Schwind.

Jaci is survived by her sons, Rob (Jody) Raider of Vermilion and Paul (Shannon) Raider of Amherst; her beloved grandchildren, Ryan Raider, Jake Raider, Grant Raider, Elizabeth Raider, Eli Raider, Brad Rider, Gabriella Gerber, and Cara Walsh; her great-grandchild, Wyatt Raider; and her sister, Joan Matt of Medina. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Parish, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, Ohio. A private burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vermilion in Bloom, 685 Main St., Vermilion, OH 44089, or online at www.mainstreetvermilion.org/vib.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at Kingston of Vermilion Rehab Facility, New Life Hospice, and Lauren Dadas for their compassionate care.

Condolences may be shared at www.riddlefuneralhome.com.
