Ruth Dolores Haas (née Fankhauser), 85, of Vermilion, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Kingston of Vermilion after a lengthy illness.
She was born on February 15, 1939, in Steubenville, OH, and had resided in Vermilion for the past eight years after relocating from Florida.
Ruth dedicated over 20 years of her career as a civilian cook at several Air Force bases. She also worked as a bartender during her lifetime.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Vermilion and the VFW Post #2480. Ruth enjoyed pampering herself with hair and nail appointments, painting, and other crafts. She also cherished spending time with her husband, singing karaoke, and dancing.
Ruth is survived by her son, Bryon (Valerie) Haas of Carrollton, OH; her daughter, Tammy Lynn (Mike) Dowd of Vermilion, OH; her adopted son, Robert Hellinger of Lorain, OH; grandchildren Bryon III, Makayla, Angela, Larry “Ricky,” and Briana; great-grandchildren Teigan, Luna, Drystan, Faye, and Zander; brothers, Robert, Alvie, and Nick; and her sisters, Sherry, Edie, and Katie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Frederick Haas; her daughter, Tina Marie Fulmer; parents, Harold and Mary Fray (née Johnson) Fankhauser; brothers, Snookie, Albert, Harold, and Donnie, and her sister, Dorothy.
Private services will be held for the family.
